The rescue worker who won’t leave a bombed-out town
42-year old Laith al-Abdullah is one of the citizens of Saraqeb that refuses to leave their home town even while it is constantly attacked. Under the threats of bombs and attacks, Laith is spending his days with the White Helmets rescuing and helping citizens escape from the rubbles of their destroyed homes and workplaces.
Laith is saddened when he remembers how peaceful and beautiful Saraqeb was before the attacks, and how many people are fleeing the city fearing for their life. His wife and children moved to stay safe while he stays behind knowing that his help is needed to save people in his home town.
This hero has so many stories of people he saved and people who he couldn’t. All of these people are engraved in his mind, starting from his younger brother who died during the first intensive bombings.
