5 Simple Steps to Peeling Pomegranate

Pomegranates are very tasty and are full of health benefits properties such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-cancer effects, but they are a huge hassle to peel. Often we end up with as many juicy seeds lost as in our bowl and it takes hours! Here are the 5 steps to peel your pomegranate efficiently and quickly.

Step 1

Cut the fruit with a sharp knife around the middle, deeply enough to pierce the skin but not enough to cut the seeds inside. Then pull apart the two halves by inserting your thumbs into the cut to yank the pomegranate open.

Step 2

Then put the two halves into a bowl of water and gently push the edges down to open the fruit. The bowl of water is used to soften the white tissue under the skin of the pomegranate.

Step 3

Then tap the outside of each half of the pomegranate with the back of a spoon to make the seeds fall into your hand in the bowl of water.

Step 4

At this point, you should have only a few seeds trapped into the white inner skin of the fruit and you can easily release them with your finger.

Step 5

The seeds will have sunk to the bottom of your bowl and you can easily remove any floating pith with a spoon. After that, you can drain the water and have your big bowl of pomegranate seeds to snack on!
